A decade after the original movie hit theaters and won audiences over with its brutally entertaining mix of sci-fi, comedy and horror, we got word that a sequel to Attack the Block was officially in the works around this time last year.

The project is being developed by Studiocanal, Film4, Complete Fiction Pictures and UpperRoom Productions, with Joe Cornish returning to write and direct, and John Boyega is set to reprise the role of Moses.

Updates have been few and far between since the announcement, but Boyega has now shared some news on the planned sequel.

"[We're] in the lab. We're cooking," the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor told Deadline. "I've sat down with Joe Cornish just literally a few weeks ago. Expect some news soon."

The first film saw Moses and his gang protect their neighbourhood against murderous alien invaders. Though plot details for the sequel are under wraps, it'll most likely have a similar premise. No word on whether female lead Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) will also be back as Samantha.

No release or production start dates have been announced.
