We've been hearing about the Avatar sequels for years at this stage, and the first follow-up to James Cameron's sci-fi epic is set to debut later this year. Fans have been anxiously awaiting a first look at some footage from the movie, and we finally have an update on that trailer.
According to The Ankler, a teaser trailer "of some sort" for Avatar 2 is set to screen in front of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6.
This is far from official, but it would make sense. Disney is reportedly hoping to replicate the success of Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home with Sam Raimi's sequel, and offering audiences a first glimpse of our return to Pandora would ensure maximum ticket sales.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that star-crossed lovers Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) will return, and they won't be alone. Jake and Neytiri have their own family now, consisting of Na’vi kids Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss), and adopted human child Miles Socorro, aka Spider (Jack Champion).
There have also been plenty of rumors and leaks, but you'll have to seek them out yourselves!
Avatar 2 is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
