There's a lot of excitement for Avatar: The Way of Water to splash down into theaters this December. With thirteen years having passed since the first movie was released, we have no doubt the VFX will blow us all away (even if the story is as middle-of-the-road as last time), but could we one day see Na'vi brought to life with real actors?
Probably not unless Disney World adds the aliens to their character meet and greets in Animal Kingdom, but this phenomenal body paint delivers a finished product that's nearly identical to the Na'vi we're used to seeing on screen.
Shared by Reddit user rednamrahC, this amazing self-portrait shows how the cosplayer - who goes by "Charr" - has transformed herself into one of the Avatar characters. The results are jaw-dropping, and a quick look through her profile shows equally as impressive efforts based on heroes and villains from The Boys, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and more.
As we're sure you'll agree, it's a fantastic effort and one that brings the Na'vi into our world!
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by Avatar helmer James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, Avatar: The Way of Water stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
To whet audiences' appetites, Disney/20th Century Studios will re-release Avatar in theaters on September 23. As for Avatar: The Way of Water, that arrives in theaters worldwide on December 16.
