Disney has officially released a new batch of stills from James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water. Some of these will be familiar, but we finally have them without any annoying watermarks (no offence, Empire...). There are also a few never before seen shots reminding us just how stunning this world of Pandora really is.
Cameron has been making headlines lately, dismissing concerns about this sequel's runtime by saying "give me a f***ing break" and claiming trolls will have to "shut the f*** up" once they revisit 2009's Avatar. The filmmaker has also claimed he may not helm Avatar 4 and 5, though noted that those happening will depend on how well the next two instalments perform financially.
One thing we're sure of is that Disney will pull out all the stops to make sure they're a hit!
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by Avatar helmer James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, Avatar: The Way of Water stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
To whet audiences' appetites, Disney/20th Century Studios will re-release Avatar in theaters on September 23. As for Avatar: The Way of Water, that arrives in theaters worldwide on December 16.
