AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER VFX Artist Takes Aim At Weta Workshop For Alleged Low Pay And Poor Working Conditions

Avatar: The Way of Water looks set to be one of the most expensive movies ever made, so all eyes will be on those all-important box office numbers next weekend. Much of that money has, understandably, gone into the visual effects, an inevitability with a sequel that primarily takes place on an alien planet with non-human characters!

This year, we've heard an awful lot about the challenges that come with working in the VFX industry, particularly in the wake of the pandemic.

Now, one artist, Logan Preshaw, who was enlisted by Weta Workshop to contribute to Avatar: The Way of Water, has slammed the company for poor pay, disrespectful working conditions, and more. However, he's also quick to point out this is an issue with Weta, and not James Cameron or Disney's 20th Century Studios.

Considering the fact Marvel Studios has been coming under fire for how it handles its VFX teams, we're sure the House of Mouse will be pleased about that, at least!

As for Weta, they're perhaps best known for working on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchises due to being based in New Zealand. Other recent projects, however, include Dune and Thor: Love and Thunder, and this isn't the first time they've come under fire for issues behind the scenes.

Check out Preshaw's thread of Tweets below.
