Dune: Part 2 is scheduled to begin shooting next month, and director Denis Villeneuve is still adding a few supporting players to his already very impressive cast.

The latest to join the sprawling ensemble is No Time To Die star Lea Seydoux, who is coming off wide acclaim for her performance in David Cronenberg's Cannes hit Crimes of the Future. The French actress is set to play Lady Margot.

In Frank Herbert's novels, Lady Margot Fenring was the scheming Bene Gesserit wife of the Mentat Count Hasimir Fenring. The character only had a fairly minor part to play in the first book, so we're expecting Seydoux's role to be expanded for the purposes of Villeneuve's sequel.

A recently released synopsis reads “Part Two will focus on Paul assembling a massive army of Fremen to combat the ruthless Harkonnen, as he essentially becomes a mythical messiah figure to the inhabitants of Arrakis.”

The studio recently confirmed that Florence Pugh (Black Widow) is locked in as the Emperor's daughter Princess Irulan, with Austin Butler (Elvis) set to play the evil Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. The legendary Christopher Walken has also been cast as The Emperor of the Known Universe (Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV of House Corrino to give him his full title). They join returning cast members Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Dave Bautista.

Dune: Part 2 is set to hit theaters on Oct. 20, 2023, with production scheduled to commence in Budapest on July 18.

I felt pretty confident Villeneuve would cut the Giedi Prime detour, as it doesn't really add much to this story or any of the future stories really. I can only guess that the movie will cold-open with that rather than randomly drop it right in the middle.

This is excellent casting! So far so good! I am looking forward to who he hires to play Mentat Count Hasimir Fenring. Still a bit disappointed about the emporor but we will see.
