Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have announced that filming on the untitled Godzilla vs. Kong sequel is now taking place in Queensland, Australia. There have been conflicting reports about what to expect from the movie, including claims that it won't feature Godzilla. Well, we now know that's not the case and it doesn't sound like we're getting Son of Kong either!
A brief synopsis reveals that the "sequel pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence - and our own."
It's added that this movie will "delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever."
Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is back behind the camera, while returning cast members include Rebecca Hall (The Night House), Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train), and Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs Kong).
As for the movie's additions, an impressive ensemble has been assembled that includes Dan Stevens (Legion), Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (The Batman) and Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok).
Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs Kong), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), and Simon Barrett (You’re Next) all worked on the screenplay, while the movie will be produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Brian Rogers, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni, with executive producers Josh Grode, Adam Wingard, Jay Ashenfelter, Jen Conroy, Kenji Okuhira and Yoshimitsu Banno.
The Godzilla vs Kong sequel is set to be released on March 15, 2024. We're hoping for more updates on the project in the coming weeks and wouldn't be surprised if some set photos soon start popping up.
