This summer, Universal Pictures is set to finally release the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that will span the globe and highlight a lot of epic dinosaur action.
Each instalment of the franchise has upped the ante, and the past couple of movies have introduced increasingly terrifying and massive dinosaurs to stun and amaze moviegoers. Now, in Colin Trevorrow's threequel, we'll meet the Giganotosaurus, a.k.a. the Giga. "I wanted something that felt like the Joker," the filmmaker tells Empire Online. "It just wants to watch the world burn."
The Giga was created by BioSyn, the company that paid Dennis Nedry to infiltrate InGen back in the day. "BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments," Trevorrow explains. "They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on."
"It’s an entirely new kind of movie. It’s the thing I’ve been waiting to do this whole time."
It feels like we're in store for an epic finale with Jurassic World Dominion, and the Giga (which you can see below) promises to make the Indominus Rex look like a complete non-factor in comparison!
The movie also features new cast members DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Returning cast include BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez, and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay by Emily Carmichael (Battle at Big Rock) and Trevorrow, Jurassic World Dominion arrives in theaters on June 10.
