It's now been confirmed that legendary Hollywood star and sex symbol Raquel Welch has sadly died at the age of 82.

We don't have many details at this time, but People.com reports that "Welch passed away peacefully early this morning after a brief illness."

Welch's manager Steve Sauer adds: "Her career spanned over 50 years, starring in over 30 films and 50 television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs. Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter Tahnee Welch."

Welch was best-known for her role as cave-woman Loana in prehistoric adventure One Million Years B.C., but she also appeared in the likes of Fantastic Voyage (1966), Bedazzled (1967), and Myra Breckinridge (1970).

Though Welch did arguably become more famous for her looks than her acting ability, she was also regarded as an underrated performer, and won a Golden Globe for her turn in the 1973 adaptation of The Three Musketeers.

All our thoughts go out to Raquel's friends and family during this difficult time.
