To mark the review aggregator's 25th anniversary, Rotten Tomatoes recently sent out over 10,000 ballots to its certified critics, asking them to pick their five favourite films of the past quarter-century.

The results are now in, and critics voted George Miller's post-apocalyptic masterpiece, Mad Max: Fury Road, as the best movie of the past 25 years.

Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite came in second; David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive third; Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight fourth, and Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire rounded out the top five.

Check out the top 25 in full below.

01. Mad Max: Fury Road (George Miller)

02. Parasite (Bong Joon-ho)

03. Mulholland Dr. (David Lynch)

04. The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan)

Not a bad list, all things considered, and there are a few undeniably excellent films on there. Of course, any type of "best of" poll like this is always going to draw sneers, and more than a few stuffier members of the online film community have taken issue with a lot of the winners.

What do you think? Do you agree that Fury Road is the best movie of the past 25 years? Be sure to give us your own top 5 in the comments.
