New Line's recent Mortal Kombat reboot didn't exactly achieve a flawless victory at the box office, but it performed well enough - especially as one of the first major Covid-era releases - to warrant a sequel, and producer Todd Garner recently took to Twitter to confirm that production is set to get underway in Australia next month.

We recently learned that none other than Karl Urban (The Boys, The Lord of the Rings movies) will play Johnny Cage, with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Tati Gabrielle set to play Jade.

Now, THR reports that Gabrielle's Sabrina co-star Adeline Rudolph has been added to the cast as a character who was introduced in the second game, the fan-wielding warrior known as Kitana.

The Netflix series marked Rudolph's screen debut, but the Hong Kong-born model-turned-actress has also appeared in the CW’s Riverdale and Netflix’s Resident Evil series. She is currently filming the female lead in Millennium’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

The first movie's surviving characters will return, but we will also see the debut of some new heroes and villains from the long-running video game series, including Baraka, Shao Khan, Sindel, Quan Chi and Kitana.
