The social media embargo for Nope lifted this morning, and those who were lucky enough to get an early look at Jordan Peele's mysterious sci-fi horror movie have been sharing their spoiler-free thoughts online.
For the most part, reactions have been very positive, with some hailing Nope as Peele's strongest feature yet. The cast comes in for a lot of praise (particularly Keke Palmer), and it sounds like the filmmaker has delivered another tense, cerebral head-scratcher that will keep audiences guessing all the way through.
The film is also described as being "crazy different from Get Out & Us," with "Jordan Peele spreading his wings and making big budget Spielberg/esque sci-fi, but with the subtext you’d expect." Not everyone was won over, however.
Though there doesn't seem to be any overly negative Tweets (yet, anyway), one critic calls Nope Peele’s "most ambitious film but also his weakest," before adding that "the first act is superb but by the second, it loses its footing and becomes a bad M. Night Shyamalan movie with Spielbergian elements. It lacks a sense of focus with a story that is never fully realized."

Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The film will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide.
