Empire Magazine has shared a new image from Dan Trachtenberg's upcoming Predator prequel film, Prey, giving us our best look yet at the stripped-down design for this new take on the iconic alien hunter that's been dubbed the "Feral Predator" online.

While the creature is recognizable as the same species (officially known as Yautja) that stalked the previous movies in the franchise, this is definitely a more dialled-down version with less technological enhancements as its disposal.

"I wanted [the Predator] to be scarier than we've seen it before," the 10 Cloverfield Lane director said of his interpretation of the Predator in a recent interview. "It's intelligent and it has advanced technology, and that makes it even more difficult to take on. But because the movie is set 300 years in the past, those things need to feel a little bit older than we've seen before, but also still far more advanced than what we think our earthlings would be able to handle."

Check out the new still below.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), and produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator) and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), with Lawrence Gordon (Watchmen), Marty Ewing (It: Chapter Two), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (Fantasy Island) serving as executive producers.

Prey is set to premiere on the Hulu streaming service on August 5. Keep an eye out for a new trailer very soon!
