Dan Trachtenberg's critically-acclaimed Predator prequel, Prey, arrived on Hulu last year, and didn't take long to become the #1 premiere on the streaming service to date, including all film and TV series debuts. The film was also a huge hit with critics, with a very impressive 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Disney/20th Century Studios' decision to debut the movie on streaming instead of in theaters was widely criticized, but it's fair to say that the move paid off, and we're now hearing that a sequel is in-development for Hulu.

There's been no official announcement, but World of Reel has drawn attention to a Production Weekly listing which claims that Prey 2 is indeed in the works.

The first film concluded with protagonist Naru (Amber Midthunder) defeating the near-unstoppable alien hunter (with the aid of her canine pal), and returning to her tribe. However, the end credits artwork seemed to suggest that other Predators soon showed up to avenge their fallen comrade.

There's been a lot of speculation that another Prey movie might move the action to another timeline, but would ditching Midthunder as the lead really be a good idea?

We'll update if and when we learn more about this rumoured Prey sequel, but for now, you can check out a clip from one of the featurettes that will be included on the Blu-ray.

"Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries."

John Davis produced Prey with Marty Ewing and Jhane Myers, who is a Native Comanche. Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Marc Toberoff served as executive producers.

The film stars Amber Midthunder (Legion, Roswell, New Mexico), Dakota Beavers (of the band WesternBoy), Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), Julian Black Antelope (Tribal), Cody Big Tobacco (The Revenant), Skye Pelletier (Burden of Truth), Tymon Carter (The Emigrants), and Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat (Shoresy), with Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories), a 6’9″ former basketball player who has experience working in creature suits, as the Predator.
