Zack Snyder has taken to Vero to announce that principal photography has now wrapped on his Seven Samurai-inspired sci-fi adventure film, Rebel Moon.

The filmmaker also shared a first look at some footage, but the 15-second video is really more of a shot than a clip! Still, it gives us an idea of the stunning cinematography we have to look forward to, as actress Bae Doona stands in a meditative pose.

Check out the video below.

Snyder has often said that if he was given the opportunity to helm a Star Wars movie, he'd pay homage to the great Akira Kurosawa with an epic space adventure inspired by Seven Samurai, and he now has the chance to tell his story in a different galaxy far, far away. Snyder also co-wrote the project with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, and will produce alongside Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller for The Stone Quarry.

Rebel Moon also stars Djimon Hounsou, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, and Anthony Hopkins. Sofia Boutella will play the lead: "A young woman with a mysterious past who seeks out warriors from neighbouring planets to help a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy take a stand against the tyrannical Regent Balisarius."

No premiere date has been announced, but we're hearing a teaser trailer might not be too far off, so keep an eye on SFFGazette.com for updates.
