Check out the teaser trailer for beloved Power Rangers star Jason Davis Frank's final performance, Legend of the White Dragon. The film has been described as a mature, darker take on the Power Rangers mythos.
Following JDF's untimely demise, Bat in the Sun questioned whether they would release the project but it seems the independent production studio has chosen to honor the former Green Ranger by forging ahead.
Legend of the White Dragon is an upcoming American science fiction superhero film directed by Bat in the Sun's Aaron Schoenke and was crowdfunded through Kickstarter.
The film stars former Power Rangers stars Jason David Frank, Jason Faunt (Power Rangers Time Force), Cerina Vincent (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy), and Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers Megaforce).
The film will also star Aaron Schoenke, Mayling Ng (Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad), David Ramsey (Arrow), social media star Andrew 'King Bach' Bachelor, Mark Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum), and Michael Madsen (Kill Bill, Sin City).
Former Power Rangers star Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach) was also originally attached to the project but was forced to depart the film due to scheduling conflicts.
Legend of the White Dragon follows Erik Reed, a former superhero who is framed for the destruction of a city and forced to go into hiding. Three years later, he returns to clear his name and reunite with his family. He must battle a new villain who is seeking revenge on the White Dragon.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters during the first quarter of 2024. Per Bat in the Sun, the plan is to give the film a theatrical release.
Earlier this month, Legend of the White Dragon received a waiver to continue filming through the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike due to the project's independent nature.
