CinemaCon 2026 officially kicked off today and it didn't take long for fans to spot the Spaceballs 2 marketing.

With a release date set for next year on April 23, 2027, Amazon MGM Studios is making the film's presence felt at this week's trade show. The halls of Caesars Palace are filled with promotional stands and posters, but as spotted by Fandango, Spaceballs has its very own elevatar.

This isn't just any old elvator though, this is "Spaceballs The Elevator," a humorous nod to the "Mr. Coffee" gag from the original 1987 movie.

As a passionate fan of the original Spaceballs, I am cautiously optimistic with this long-awaited sequel. And while we've yet to see a proper trailer, the little marketing we've seen so far, from the cheeky synopsis to the humorous logline, feels authentic to the original movie.

Amazon MGM Studios has a presentation of its upcoming movie slate scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 at 8:30p.m. I'm hoping we get at least another teaser for Spaceballs 2, now that its release date has been locked in.

Spaceballs 2 is being directed by Josh Greenbaum, known for Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, with a screenplay by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez. Gad also stars in the film alongside fellow newcomers Keke Palmer, Anthony Carrigan, and Lewis Pullman.

Original cast members Bill Pullman (Lone Starr) and Daphne Zuniga (Princess Vespa) are also returning with Mel Brooks reprising his role as Yogurt. But the true buzz surrounding this film revolves around the return of Rick Moranis who is coming out of retirement to reprise his iconic role as Lord Dark Helmet.

Amazon MGM Studios is keeping the story of Spaceballs 2 under wraps but did tease "the title is rumored to be the name of the movie, and plot details are being described as information about what happens in the story."

The studio also previously shared a longline that described the movie as “a non-prequel non-reboot sequel part two but with reboot elements franchise expansion film.”

Hopefully, we'll get more information this week. In the meantime, here's the preivously released announcement that featured one of the most amazing opening crawls in existence.

Spaceballs 2 flies into theaters on April 23, 2027. Be sure to check back later this week for any new information we learn from CinemaCon.
