It was announced late last year that that Justice League director Zack Snyder's next project for Netflix after Army of The Dead and Army of Thieves would be an epic sci-fi fantasy titled Rebel Moon, and the movie has now added four more actors to its ensemble cast.
Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), Corey Stoll (Ant-Man) Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones), and Alfonso Herrera (The Exorcist) have all signed on for the project, which we've now learned will be "split into two epic features." Elwes will play the King of the Galactic Empire, but the other roles have not been disclosed.
They join Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Rupert Friend, Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang.
Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond, Atomic Blonde, The Mummy) will play the lead: "A young woman with a mysterious past who seeks out warriors from neighboring planets to help a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy take a stand against the tyrannical Regent Balisarius."
Snyder has often said that if he was given the opportunity to helm a Star Wars movie, he'd pay homage to the great Akira Kurosawa with an epic space adventure inspired by Seven Samurai, and it sounds like he'll get the chance to tell his story in a different galaxy far, far away. Snyder also co-wrote the project with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, and will produce alongside Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller for The Stone Quarry.
