AHSOKA: Ezra Bridger Theory May Explain Why Thrawn Has An Army Of Undead Night Troopers - SPOILERS

The latest episode of Ahsoka left us with a lot of questions, but a new theory about Ezra Bridger may clear up why Grand Admiral Thrawn has left his old foe alone and what happened to those Stormtroopers.

In this week's episode of Ahsoka, we were finally reunited with Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. In the closing moments of Star Wars Rebels, the Purrgil pulled them into Hyperspace, with it since revealed that the Chimaera Star Destroyer carrying them ended up on Peridia.

This ancient homeworld of the Nightsisters is steeped in dark magic, something Thrawn seems to have embraced in an effort to survive. Leading an army of what we believe are undead Stormtroopers - officially dubbed Night Troopers - the villain remains formidable. However, we still have a lot of unanswered questions.

For starters, we have no clue what happened after Thrawn's ship arrived over Peridia. It's hard to imagine he simply allowed Ezra to leave, but when Sabine Wren demands to know her friend's location, the Imperial suggests he hasn't seen the Jedi for several years and doesn't know if he's alive or dead.

If Ezra escaped, why would Thrawn give up pursuing him? Well, a new fan theory may shed some light on both that and the reason the Grand Admiral has an army of Marrok-like walking corpses on hand.

The prevailing opinion is that Ezra's chainmail is made from the dog tags of the Stormtroopers he's killed. While it would be strange for a Jedi to take trophies, it may have been a necessity in order to protect himself...and to make it clear to Thrawn that he should leave both Ezra (who, like Ahsoka, technically isn't an "official" Jedi) and Peridia's innocent inhabitants alone.

This makes sense on a number of levels as someone must have killed those soldiers! We're hoping flashbacks will clear things up, though it's equally as likely the story of those missing years will be saved for a new novel (hopefully penned by Timothy Zahn) or comic book series.

As you can see, the theory is one that's stirred a lot of debate on social media...

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

The first six episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
