AHSOKA: Has Lucasfilm Just Inadvertently Confirmed Plans For Season 2? AHSOKA: Has Lucasfilm Just Inadvertently Confirmed Plans For Season 2?

The excitement is building for tonight's Ahsoka finale, but is it going to end the season or the series as a whole? A deleted social media post from Lucasfilm may provide at least some clarification...

Later this evening, the finale of Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+. The question is, are we getting a season or series finale? Lucasfilm has yet to announce plans for additional episodes and it's currently unclear whether we'll get Ahsoka season 2 before Dave Filoni's planned Star Wars movie.

No clip has been released for this instalment but the show's various social media accounts did share a video earlier recapping the events of last week's instalment.

As io9 has pointed out, though, it was originally accompanied by text which read, "get ready for the series finale of @AhsokaOfficial tonight." The site later reached out to Lucasfilm for comment and, while they refused to say anything, the posts have since been updated or replaced to read "season finale."

So, what's going on?

It could be a simple mistake and, if so, that suggests this will be a season rather than a series finale. Alternatively, Lucasfilm may feel that announcing it as a series finale (meaning there will be no season 2) could spoil how the story is going to end; after all, we can't be sure whether even Ahsoka Tano will make it off Peridea alive!

If nothing else, we expect tonight's episode to clear things up a little and it's possible the finale will end with some sort of announcement (similar to how The Mandalorian season 2 teed up The Book of Boba Fett).

Check back here later for our in-depth Ahsoka finale recaps!

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Seven of eight episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
