Lucasfilm has just shared a new gallery of official stills from Ahsoka, with the spotlight on both the heroes and villains we can look forward to seeing brought to life in live-action this summer.
In terms of Star Wars Rebels' cast, we see characters like Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and David Tennant's Huyong. There's also a tantalising shot of the returning Grand Admiral Thrawn, though those of you not at Star Wars Celebration will clearly have to wait to see the full reveal of Lars Mikkelsen's villain after an extended trailer was shown to fans yesterday.
We also see Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno's Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, two newly created villains for Ahsoka.
We can also give names to the characters spotted alongside Genevieve O'Reilly's Chancellor Mon Mothma in the trailer. Those are Senator Mawood (Maurice Irvin), Senator Rodrigo (Jacqueline Antaramian), Senator Xiono (Nelson Lee), and Gran Senator (Erica Duke).
Does one of those ring a bell? Senator Xiono is the father of Kazuda Xiono, one of the pilots we first met in Star Wars Resistance, the short-lived animated series that ran from 2018 to 2020. This is a deep-cut Easter Egg and one that adds further connectivity between Lucasfilm's modern projects.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson as the title character, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla. Ahsoka is written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist is co-executive producer.
Ahsoka will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
