The fourth episode of Ahsoka is now streaming on Disney+, and while we'll have plenty of details for you very soon, this report is actually based on an Easter Egg from the season premiere that seemed to fly under most people's radars.

In the very first scene, as Ahsoka is exploring the ruins of a planet that used to be home to the witch-like Nightsisters of Dathomir, strange whispers can be heard as she seeks out the star-map that she hopes will lead her to Ezra Bridger.

We didn't recognize the voice at the time, but one fan has done some research, and if you listen very closely, it does appear to be a line of dialogue spoken by Darth Maul in the animated Star Wars Rebels series as he lay dying in Obi-Wan Kenobi's arms after the Jedi master was forced to cut down his old enemy: "Is he the chosen one?"

This is interesting for a number of reasons, but, if this is indeed Maul's dialogue, it would explain Sam Witwer - who voiced the Emperor's former apprentice - getting a mention in the credits.

There was speculation that Witwer might have reprised his role as Starkiller from the Force Unleashed video games, and appear as a live-action take on the character when mysterious Inquisitor Marrok was unmasked, but this seems like a far more likely explanation.

Have a listen for yourselves at the link below, and let us know what you think.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.
