In the final few minutes of Ahsoka Season 1, statues of the Mortis Gods—living embodiments of the balance of the Force—were revealed, prompting theories that Abeloth (aka The Mother) could be revealed as this era of Star Wars' big bad.
The main three Mortis Gods previously appeared in a lore-heavy episode of The Clone Wars, and while statues of The Father (who represents the balance between the light and dark sides of the Force) and The Son (the Dark) stood tall in Ahsoka, The Daughter's (the Light) had crumbled. It could be indicative of what's happened in the wider Galaxy...or there may be an even deeper meaning we've yet to unravel.
Now, a first look at a mural from Ahsoka Season 2 has once again got Star Wars fans talking about what to expect from "The Ones' and this corner of the Galaxy Far, Far Away set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
As the @moraimessenger X account posits, "The Father, The Daughter, and the Son [are] centre stage amidst a conflict between the Nightsisters and the kaiju droids. Are the Ones friends… or foes? Saviours… or masters?"
"Perhaps the Son is forcing the Witches into submission, and the Daughter is helping them," the account later added, "creating 'Nightsisters' and 'Lightsisters.' I’ve always thought that the conflict on Peridea arose from the two sides fighting each other." Either way, the fan account appears confident that this is likely a "big piece of exposition" from Ahsoka Season 2.
For now, we can only theorise about what it all means. However, it seems Dave Filoni has some ambitious plans to add to Star Wars lore and perhaps even touch on the role the Mortis Gods played in creating the Galaxy we're all so familiar with today.
What exactly this means for Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Baylan Skoll is hard to say, though Peridea seems to be host to a source of power that could change everything. Is that Abeloth? Again, time will tell on that front.
Season 2 continues the story of Ahsoka Tano and her extraordinary journey beyond the known galaxy. As Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren travel across a mysterious and perilous world to find their way home, their friends Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper must face the powerful Grand Admiral Thrawn and his sinister allies, who seek to plunge the New Republic into war.
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, Eman Esfandi, Ivanna Sakhno, Rory McCann, and Hayden Christensen.
The directors are Dave Filoni, Jennifer Getzinger, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Anders Engström. The series is written by Dave Filoni, who also serves as an executive producer along with Jon Favreau and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist is the co-executive producer, and John Bartnicki and Joan Schneider are the producers.
