At Star Wars Celebration earlier today, Lucasfilm held a panel for Ahsoka. It was a star-studded affair with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni fielding questions before they were joined on stage by Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndull).
The show's villains also made their presence felt, with Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), Ray Stevenson, and Ivanna Sakhno arriving to much fanfare. The characters played by the latter two now have names: Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.
Near the end of the panel, Lars Mikkelsen surprised everyone by finally confirming he will play Grand Admiral Thrawn, reprising his Star Wars Rebels role. David Tennant is going to return as his animated character, Huyong, and Dawson explained that all his dialogue was recorded in advance, meaning she was able to bounce off the actor on set even though he wasn't there.
While there were some interesting insights into the making of the series, everyone was keen to avoid divulging spoilers ahead of Ahsoka's Disney+ debut this August and that meant a lack of new plot details. However, we do have a confirmed list of directors and those are Dave Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Kevin Kiner, meanwhile, will score Ahsoka after previously working on The Clone Wars and Rebels.
After premiering the first trailer for the show on Friday, fans in attendance today were treated to an extended version with even more footage.
That won't be released online, but we can tell you about those noteworthy moments.
As well as a full shot of Mikkelsen's Thrawn (he looks phenomenal), we spotted Sabine using Ezra Bridger's green lightsaber during a showdown with Shin. There were a handful of scenes with the Ghost in action scattered throughout and we finally saw the giant Purgil in action as an astonished Hera and Sabine watch on.
Talking of Thrawn, Filoni confirmed that Heir of the Empire author Timothy Zahn has been kept in the loop about the villain's role in Ahsoka and appears to be sharing some input into how the character should be portrayed!
