A new trailer for Ahsoka has been released by Lucasfilm and Disney+, and with that comes confirmation the series will launch with a two-episode premiere!
As for this new sneak peek, it's packed full of game-changing moments, including a first look at Lars Mikkelsen's live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn. Those of you who attended Star Wars Celebration in April will already be familiar with this shot of the villain, of course, but for everyone else, it is brand new.
In terms of reveals, there are some big ones, including the fact Baylan and Shin are not Jedi and are actually part of the group looking to bring Thrawn back as part of a mysterious quest for ultimate power. We've heard rumours Mitth'raw'nuruodo might have begun dabbling in the occult during his absence from the wider Galaxy, so the Imperial may be about to make his return in a way we could have never expected.
We also learn that Baylan knew Anakin Skywalker, though whether he's referring to the Jedi when he was Anakin or Darth Vader is hard to say. They've clearly crossed paths, though, and that could mean this character is one we've previously seen in animation.
Finally, the trailer also confirms Ahsoka Tano took on Sabine Wren as her Padawan for a time, presumably meaning the Mandalorian is indeed attuned to the Force. That would explain why she's wielding Ezra Bridger's lightsaber, anyway, and this is a big development for the Star Wars Rebels fan-favourite.
Check out the trailer, along with a very cool new poster, for Ahsoka below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
