AHSOKA: What Mysterious Force Lies Within Peridia And What Is Thrawn Transporting? - Possible SPOILERS

Last night's episode of Ahsoka didn't provide many of the answers we'd been hoping for, but the plot still very much thickened with the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger.

In the Imperial's case, he's formed a partnership with The Great Mothers, Dathomiri Nightsisters who appear to have raised an army of undead Stormtroopers for him. As they make plans to leave the planet and return to Thrawn's Galaxy, we see him moving coffin-like containers from within the planet's catacombs, a job we learn is likely to take days.

So, what's inside? One possibility is that these are Spaarti cloning cylinders, devices capable of creating an army at least 10 times quicker than those used during The Clone Wars. Alternatively, it may be more dead Stormtroopers, though we're not sure why they wouldn't have been resurrected (Thrawn also suggests he has only a limited number of soldiers available).

More Nightsisters - perhaps in a form of stasis - is a possibility as are the Chiss, though that would mean Thrawn must have already had his own people on his Star Destroyer when he was pulled to this different Galaxy by the Purrgil. Some of Thrawn's people are Force sensitive so they'd make for a formidable army.

Either way, this will be a key plot point over the next two weeks.

Elsewhere in the episode, we learn that something on the planet is calling to Baylan Skoll and he believes it's a power which The Great Mothers are attempting to escape. What could it be? There are a few possibilities on that front.

Some fans believe it might be Supreme Leader Snoke, though that villain being a failed Palpatine controlled by the Emperor from afar remains most likely. Still, the villain needs an origin story and this could be it.

Another possibility is that the planet contains a Wellspring, one of the places where the Cosmic Force itself flows. Qui-Gon Jinn discovered one, but we have a feeling the source calling to Baylan is someone rather than something. Or both perhaps.

With that in mind, we may finally see a live-action Abeloth. Also known as the Bringer of Chaos and self-styled as the Beloved Queen of the Stars, she was an extremely powerful Force entity, with dark side powers and immortality derived from her being corrupted by drinking from the Font of Power and bathing in the Pool of Knowledge. In the Expanded Universe, she has a history with Luke Skywalker from his post-Return of the Jedi adventures.

We're sure answers are coming but, for now, let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
