Cameras are currently rolling on Andor season 2 and a number of key actors have recently been spotted on the show's set in Valencia, Spain.
Among the characters seen so far are Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), with Lonni Jung, Perrin Fertha, and Kleya Marki all supposedly lending their talents to this second batch of episodes as well.
There's even talk of Poker Face star Benjamin Bratt being part of season 2, but the show might have another huge surprise in store for us. According to a new report shared by Bespin Bulletin, Kino Loy actor Andy Serkis has been seen on the Spanish set near the City of Arts and Science.
It's entirely feasible that the actor was just there to visit some of his old co-stars, but we can't discount the possibility his character might have survived the events of Andor season 1. When he last saw him during that prison break on Narkina 5, he confessed to Cassian that he couldn't swim, presumably meaning he was left trapped in that Imperial stronghold surrounded by water.
However, while neither we nor Cassian got to see what became of Kino, this report strongly hints that he somehow survived and managed to free himself.
Andor director Tony Haynes previously revealed, "He certainly wasn’t killed. So we know that much. And that’s the interesting thing about Tony Gilroy’s writing, if you’re not dead then who knows what’s going to happen to your character. So [his return] could happen."
Gilroy himself later said, "He’s not dead. Is he dead? I don’t see him dying."
There is an Andor panel taking place at Star Wars Celebration this weekend and Serkis will be attending the event so perhaps we'll get some news then? We'll be on the ground in London so will be bringing you all the biggest updates whatever happens.
Andor season 2 is expected to hit Disney+ in the second half of 2024.
