We still have a few episodes of Andor left before this first season, and what looks to be an incredibly important year in Cassian Andor's life, wraps up. Season 2 will explore the four years leading up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with three episodes devoted to each of those over the course of another 12-episode season.

Talking to Collider, showrunner Tony Gilroy revealed new details about what fans can expect, including the news that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios will be directing episodes of the show.

Meanwhile, Dan Gilroy and Beau Willimon are set to return as writers, along with a new addition in the form of Star Wars newcomer Tom Bissell. Needless to say, we clearly have a lot to look forward to, and while he was praising Bissell, Gilroy confirmed Andor will also take us back to an iconic location.

"Tom Bissell is really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we're going into Rogue [One], and we're going to Yavin, and then we're going into places where we eventually need to really weave our way back to the source."

"So Tom came in, and he's been great. So he's got some episodes too."

We visited Yavin IV in Rogue One as well, seeing the Rebellion make a base there before Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia later made their way to the planet. Learning more about how that became an important location for Cassian and his fellow Rebels should be a blast, and something longtime Star Wars fans will definitely appreciate.

In the same interview, Gilroy also confirmed that production on season 2 has already begun, with cameras rolling for the first time on November 21. Hopefully, Andor's penchant for shooting in location means we can look forward to set photos teasing where this story goes next.

A new episode of Andor drops on Disney+ this Wednesday.
