In recent years, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has developed something of a reputation for announcing Star Wars movies and TV shows that never happen.

Among them is Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, a project that was launched during a Disney Investor Day with a splashy (and expensive) announcement video featuring the Wonder Woman director. Since then, it appears the movie has fallen apart, though Kennedy shared a surprisingly positive update during a recent interview with Empire (via StarWarsNews.net).

At the same time, the executive also confirmed that Disney+'s Lando TV series starring Solo: A Star Wars Story's Donald Glover remains "on the books."

"Lando is still on the books, and Rogue Squadron is still on the books," Kennedy claims. "We just want them to be great."

Asked about Rian Johnson's long-delayed Star Wars trilogy, she mostly reiterated past comments that, while his schedule remains jam-packed, all sides involved remain in touch. "Rian and I talk all the time. He just keeps getting more and more successful, and it keeps moving things back further and further," Kennedy says. "One day we’ll figure this out."

Something tells us that, after the mixed response to The Last Jedi, they're probably not a top priority.

Finally, she commented on the Taika Waitit Star Wars movie that we recently heard is likely to begin shooting next year. Based on these remarks, we find that doubtful. According to Kennedy, "Taika is working away. He’s just, and he won’t get mad at me for saying this, slow. We’ve got a couple of acts, we need a third."

The Star Wars franchise's future remains as uncertain as ever, though the three new movies announced at Celebration last month seem at least somewhat likely to happen. Whether we'll ever actually end up sitting down in theaters to watch all of them is another matter altogether.
