Mark Hamill Once Again Shares STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Disappointment On The Movie's 5-Year Anniversary

Star Wars: The Last Jedi recently marked its five-year anniversary, and Mark Hamill has once again chimed in to share his thoughts on Luke Skywalker's portrayal in Rian Johnson's still very divisive movie.

December 15 marked the five-year anniversary of Star Wars: The Last Jedi's release in theaters, and it seems fair to say Rian Johnson's movie remains as divisive as ever.

The filmmaker made a number of creative decisions that didn't sit well with longtime fans of the franchise, though the portrayal of Luke Skywalker proved to be the biggest sticking point. The Jedi becoming a washed-up hermit who had turned his back on the Force caused a lot of controversy, with even Mark Hamill chiming in to express his disappointment.

One Star Wars fan recently posed a series of questions to Hamill about The Last Jedi. Those included him having any new anecdotes or memories he'd like to share, whether he's changed his mind about the movie, and what, if anything, he would have done anything differently.

To that, the actor responded, "Not really. A little. Yes."

So, Hamill doesn't have anything new to share about his filming experience - no great shock five years after talking about the movie - and his feelings have changed a little (for better or worse is unclear). It's also apparent that the actor still wishes some different choices had been made for the character.

In a past interview, Hamill said the character he played was "not my Luke Skywalker" and later praised Peyton Reed for giving him another shot at playing the hero in The Mandalorian. Since then, he's shared the screen with Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano in The Book of Boba Fett, though we don't know if that's it for the legendary actor.

The way Luke's story ended will never not be disappointing to Star Wars fans, but the fact that he's found some measure of redemption softens the blow somewhat!
