Obi-Wan Kenobi is set during a very interesting, exciting point in the Star Wars franchise's timeline, opening the door to a lot of big reveals and a fascinating exploration of this period. While a big focus of the limited series will be "Ben" Kenobi's battle with Darth Vader, we'll also see the Sith Inquisitors, a young Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, and no doubt plenty of surprise cameos.

That latter point was touched on by star Rupert Friend (who plays The Grand Inquisitor) during a recent interview that saw him call the show a "thrilling [addition] to the Star Wars canon."

"If it’s possible to be any more excited than folks already are, I would be. I think [the series] is one of the most thrilling additions to the Star Wars canon," the actor exclaimed. "I think Ewan McGregor is doing things with that role that is a dream for fans of the original films. You know, we can’t obviously have Alec Guinness back, but I just think Ewan was absolutely born to play that part."

"And wonderful cameos from people I obviously can’t tell you," Friend continued, "but Easter eggs galore. Yeah, it’s a thrilling ride." Needless to say, we can't wait to see what surprises are in store.

Recently, a new plot synopsis was revealed that teased the Jedi Master's battle with the Empire and a mission we believe will involve him leaving Tatooine to come to Princess Leia's rescue. "During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission," it reads. "Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire."

Fans have expressed mixed feelings about Friend taking over the role of The Grand Inquisitor from Jason Isaacs after he voiced the villain in Star Wars Rebels. We don't know what led to Isaacs being replaced, but Friend is a talented actor clearly excited about his place in this Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ with its first two episodes on May 27.

I prefer the elongated head look. Just looks more alien.
