OBI-WAN KENOBI Is Reportedly Set To Receive A Theatrical Release Comprising Of All Six Episodes

Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally conceived as a movie, though Solo: A Star Wars Story's disappointing box office performance led to Lucasfilm changing its plans. Several blockbusters meant to fit under that "Story" banner were scrapped, while others were reimagined (such as The Book of Boba Fett).

In Obi-Wan Kenobi's case, there were also a few too many similarities to The Mandalorian, and what was once a movie became a Disney+ TV series from the creative team of writer Joby Harold and director Deborah Chow.

That's been a hit with Star Wars fans so far, but those of you disappointed not to have experienced the Jedi Master's return play out on the big screen will be pleased with this news. A now-removed listing on a Canadian theater website, Cineplex, suggests that Lucasfilm plans to host screenings of all six episodes starting Wednesday, June 22, the same day the finale arrives on Disney+.

The event will be 5 hours and 20 minutes in total and reportedly includes a live Q&A with an unknown panel of talent.

Obi-Wan Kenobi makes history with its theatrical debut as the first Disney+ series to receive this type of release. While we don't see it breaking box office records considering the fact many can choose to watch the show from home for free, this is a clever way to build buzz and reward the fans who want to experience the epic limited series on the biggest screens possible.

Ms. Marvel is also being released theatrically, of course, but only in Pakistan where the streaming service is currently unavailable. Hopefully, an official announcement about plans for Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming soon.

Will you be checking out the Star Wars series in theaters?
