Making Star Wars has revealed new details about the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series coming to Disney+ this May, shedding some light on what fans can expect from Darth Vader's return.
Apparently, the first episodes will deal heavily with Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and the Sith Inquisitors, with Vader making his return in the third chapter. He'll then have a lead role in the fourth, fifth, and final episodes as the main antagonist of the show. The site notes that this is a Vader more akin to the one we saw in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and point out "he's no joke."
"Sources are saying when Luke fights Darth Vader, you are going to see huge a difference between Darth Vader talking to Luke and trying to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi here some twelve years before the Empire Strikes Back confrontation with Luke," they add. "He’s out for blood."
It's interesting that Kenobi and Vader will cross paths before their battle in A New Hope, but their conversation in that movie was open to interpretation and left the door open to a clash having taken place after what happened in Revenge of the Sith. Regardless, this all sounds absolutely epic!
Elsewhere in the report, we learn that actor Tom O'Connell is going to play a Jedi Knight in the series who is, in fact, a Zabrak (like Darth Maul, but minus the face tattoos). With Vader and his Inquisitors still hunting down the remaining Jedi who managed to escape Order 66, it makes sense for us to see what became of them; needless to say, we anticipate at least a few surprise cameos!
Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on Disney+ on May 25.
