The fourth episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney+, and in addition to an old-school (ie, highly improbable!) Star Wars prison break, we see Ben make a shocking discovery with some nods to The Clone Wars animated series.
Echoing A New Hope, Kenobi and Tala break into an Imperial stronghold in an attempt to rescue Leia, who is being interrogated by Reva. While the former "Imp" manages to use her clearance to infiltrate the security system, Obi-Wan stumbles upon a sinister tomb where Jedi and force-sensitive beings appear to be held in some sort of stasis.
Fans of The Clone Wars will likely recognize Tera Sinube (and was that Master Coleman Kcaj?), but we can't imagine this was the type of call-back they were hoping for!
We have no idea why these characters are being kept "on ice," but they seem to be dead as doornails. Perhaps Vader and The Emperor can still somehow make use of the Midi-chlorians (is that still a thing?) in their blood for cloning purposes?
Ben is ultimately able to free Leia from her captors, and we're treated to some thrilling lightsaber action as he deflects blaster fire and uses the Force to hold a cracked window in place to prevent a corridor being submerged. Tala and Kenobi try to make it off the base with Leia hiding under the former's coat (really?), but they are confronted by Reva. The Third Sister is about to order their execution when Rebel pilots come to the rescue, and we're expected to care when one of them is killed even though he had literally three seconds of screen time (bye Wade).
The episode ends with Vader Force-choking Reva as he reminds her that he will not tolerate failure, but the cunning Inquisitor saves herself by revealing that she put a tracking device in Leia's droid, Lola!
