It's become apparent in recent days that the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie wouldn't have been all that different to the Disney+ TV series we ended up getting. There would have been some key moments or characters that weren't the same, though something both versions of this story have in common is how similar the Third Sister is to Jedi: Fallen Order's Second Sister.
Their story arcs play out almost identically, and as writer Stuart Beattie has already confirmed that his movie ended with Vader killing Reva, even their deaths were the same!
Asked about the similarities between both characters, Beattie told The Direct that it was a coincidence rather than any sort of deliberate link to the video game. "I hadn't played Fallen Order. I wrote this initially in 2017, so that was before I played Fallen Order. I then played Fallen Order and was like, 'Oh, wow, this is Reva!' No, look, it's just a coincidence."
"I wanted to create a new character because I didn't want to be bound by any canon with any of the others that have already been discussed," he continued. "And I wanted the freedom to take her where I wanted to take her. So that's why I created her, for this story."
The writer would go on to say, "We're already using so many characters in established canon with Obi, Darth, Owen, Beru...so, I was looking to create someone new. I even had Cody in mind. You know, so I was looking to create someone new."
Cody is, of course, Clone Commander Cody. One of Obi-Wan's closest allies during The Clone Wars, he turned on the Jedi Master during Order 66 and later played a key role in enslaving the Wookie home planet, Kashyyyk. We still don't know how his story ended, of course, leaving fans keen to know what became of the hero-turned-villain played by Temuera Morrison.
This explains a 2020 rumour that there were plans for Cody to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it is a shame Lucasfilm decided against heading down that route. We did, however, get to see a veteran clone who had become homeless, reminding Ben of what happened a decade earlier when Chancellor Palpatine unveiled his master plan and had the clones turn on their Jedi allies.
Would you have liked to see Ben reunite with Cody in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
