Obi-Wan Kenobi is generating a huge amount of excitement among Star Wars fans, and it's not hard to see why. The Disney+ limited series looks set to deliver the Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader rematch fans have spent years fantasising about, though it sounds like there will be plenty of surprises along the way.
The show looks set to reveal how Obi-Wan, broken after the events of Order 66, went from that to becoming the "Ben" Kenobi who willingly sacrificed himself in order to become one with the Force.
Now, a new plot synopsis has been revealed that teases the Jedi Master's battle with the Empire and a mission we believe will involve him leaving Tatooine to come to Princess Leia's rescue. "During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission," it reads. "Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire."
We've previously learned that the story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat - the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. The series is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on May 25.
