Excitement for Obi-Wan Kenobi continues to build, and Making Star Wars has now shared some intriguing insights into how the Disney+ series begins. As a result, spoilers obviously follow from this point on!
Apparently, the limited series kicks off with a flashback to the events of Order 66 in the Jedi Temple. Clone Troopers are shown attacking two young Padawan learners who are being protected by their respective Jedi Masters. Unfortunately, they're unable to fend off the Emperor Palpatine-controlled clones, but their students manage to escape thanks to their sacrifice.
It's unclear whether Lucasfilm will take this opportunity to show more of what happened to Grogu and how he escaped, but we'd bet on these Padawans being more than just random characters. Previous reports have suggested Obi-Wan Kenobi will introduce a Jedi who searches for the reclusive Jedi Master as well as new members of the Sith Inquisitorious. Could it be that the two escapees ended up heading down vastly different paths on the Light and Dark sides of the Force?
We'll have to wait and see, but this event series promises to be a must-see for fans. As well as telling the story of "Ben Kenobi," all signs point to the show deepening the Star Wars franchise's mythology.
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25.
