Obi-Wan Kenobi boasts one of the most impressive casts of any Star Wars TV series on or coming to Disney+, but aside from those returning to this Galaxy Far, Far Away, we don't know who anyone is playing! That includes Hitman: Agent 47 and Homeland star Rupert Friend, but a new report from Bespin Bulletin may have finally shed some light on his role.
According to the site, Friend will play a Sith Inquisitor...but not just any Inquisitor! It's said that he's playing the Grand Inquisitor, a character we're sure you'll remember from Star Wars Rebels.
Jason Isaacs lent his voice to the villain in the Disney XD series, but Friend feels like a perfect fit for a live-action take on the character. It's previously been reported that both Moses Ingram and Sung Kang are also playing Darth Vader's Sith Inquisitors, with the latter likely playing the Fifth Brother. Ingram on the other hand is expected to play a newly created member of the group for the show.
It makes perfect sense for Vader to send these Jedi hunters after his greatest foe following their clash on Mustafar, though we're anticipating seeing those two cross paths at some point too.
"The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat," reads the Obi-Wan Kenobi synopsis, "the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."
The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. We don't know when exactly Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+, but May 4 is likely.
