OBI-WAN KENOBI Star Ewan McGregor Teases JEDI: FALLEN ORDER Tie-In And REVENGE OF THE SITH Fallout

Poor Ewan McGregor has spent years fielding questions about a possible return to the Star Wars Universe, but that's finally going to happen in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi later this month.

Talking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (you can check out the full interview below), we finally got a Star Wars-centric interview with the actor which didn't involve him awkwardly having to express a desire to reprise the role. Praising director Deborah Chow, McGregor suggested that we might get some sort of Jedi: Fallen Order crossover while taking about the show's place in the current Star Wars canon.

"Luckily, on this series, we had Deborah Chow, who is our amazing director, and she really knows [it] all. Star Wars [is] the movies but it’s also TV shows, it’s computer games, cartoon, books, comics. All the storylines have to match up. You can’t have some fact in the video game that doesn’t match up to the movie. She was amazing at knowing all of that stuff and guiding the writers."

Jedi: Fallen Order takes place not too long after the events of this show and the two stories clearly have a lot in common given how they explore the role of the Sith Inquisitors in the Galaxy and the potential rise of a new Jedi Order. Elsewhere in the interview, McGregor discussed how Obi-Wan Kenobi deals with the fallout from Revenge of the Sith, the last time we saw him play this character.

"Well, it’s ten years after the events of Episode III. I always thought that there must be a great story in between the last Episode I made and Alec Guinness in Episode IV: A New Hope. And I was right, we found a really good story to tell in that timeframe. It’s ten years after the end of Episode III, the Jedi Order’s all been destroyed, and everyone else who wasn’t destroyed by Order 66 is in hiding. And Obi-Wan is carrying the guilt of having failed Anakin and lost Anakin to the Dark Side."

"So he’s a bit of a mess, he’s at a very low point. He’s sort of being in hiding, he’s not being a Jedi, he’s pretty bleak-minded," McGregor would go on to explain. "And then something happens, and he has to decide to help someone do something or not. That’s the series."

We can't wait to see where this goes, though if you've been keeping up to date with the rumours, you may already have a pretty good idea who it is Obi-Wan has to decide whether to help.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ with its first two episodes on May 27.
