Star Wars fans are buzzing about Darth Vader's return in Disney+'s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, especially as this is a time in Anakin Skywalker's life that's never been explored in the current canon. We've seen what the Sith Lord was doing immediately after the events of Revenge of the Sith and right before A New Hope, but not necessarily what was going on when he was at the height of his power.

In the show, Vader will be on the hunt for both Obi-Wan and any remaining Jedi, and actor Hayden Christensen - who is set to don that foreboding armour - has now elaborated on the villain's mission.

"This is sort of a point in the timeline that hasn't really been explored yet, and I think that the character of Darth Vader is at an interesting point in his life, in terms of what has happened before and where we left him in Episode III," he says in the video below. "He's very much sort of trying to reconcile his past, and hunting down the Jedi. Obviously it's his job and he's mandated by the Emperor, but it's more than that. It's a personal mission for him."

Considering the fact it was Obi-Wan who left Anakin to burn on Mustafar, we're not surprised Vader feels this way. He also blames the Jedi for what happened to Padme, and that anger and resentment are a big part of what fueled his eventual fall to the Dark Side in Revenge of the Sith.

Exploring that promises to be fascinating for fans of this Galaxy Far, Far Away, and with Christensen back in the suit, he has th opportunity to explore this character in a way the prequels never allowed.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres with its first two episodes on Disney+ in May 27.

Hope for the Best for him. IMHO episode two is okay, but episode three is solid. I think the weaker points aren't necessarily Christensen's fault, so much as the writing and direction. But maybe i'm wrong, i've never seen him in anything else to compare. I hope he's a nice guy, he seems as such here, but who knows? TBH i'm really excitedf or Obi-Wan Kenobi and that's the first time i've been excited for a star wars "event" since the first season of Mandalorian.
