Hayden Christensen played Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, while the latest "Special Editions" of the original trilogy actually inserted him into Return of the Jedi's big final scene as a Force Ghost. Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, will give the actor an opportunity to don Darth Vader's iconic armour again, and there's a huge amount of excitement to see what that leads to.

"When George [Lucas] had brought me onto the prequels, it was to play Anakin," Christensen recalled during a recent interview with Games Radar. "He gets knighted as Darth Vader towards the end, and for a couple of scenes I get to put the suit on. But my journey with the character was with Anakin Skywalker. But the character? He’s such a complex character. And now, getting to explore the mindset and the emotional state of Darth Vader, has been a lot of fun."

Unfortunately, Christensen issued a brief "no comment" when the site asked if James Earl Jones will lend his voice to the Sith Lord, while he also refused to confirm reports he'll star in Ahsoka

There's been speculation we'll finally see more of his Force Ghost in that series, though flashbacks are certainly a possibility. Either way, it sounds like the actor plans to return to this role beyond just Obi-Wan Kenobi. "The extent of this journey, I think, remains to be seen," Christensen teased. "But what a privilege to get to come back and do this, and to be a part of this project."

We certainly wouldn't say no to a Darth Vader series, especially as that feels long overdue at this stage. We'll have to wait and see, and Lucasfilm may be waiting to see the reaction to his return in Obi-Wan Kenobi first. Anticipation is high for that, anyway, and this show really can't get here soon enough.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ with its first two episodes on May 27.
