SFX Magazine interviewed Australian actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Day Shift), who will portray Sabine Wren in the upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ series, and Bordizzo expressed a desire to internalize what Sabine has been through in Rebels and then make the role her own in Ahsoka.

"I loved Tiya Sircar's Sabine!... I loved the energy, the sarcasm, and playfulness that really made Sabine Sabine, but obviously, it's a delicate balance because I never want to try to copy someone. I want to be inspired by the energy they put into the character and then make the role my own."

However, Bordizzo wanted to point out that she's not just blindly going into the show with no familiarity with the character. Too often, you read and hear about superhero films where the cast are told not to read the comics before filming starts. That was not the case here.

"And of course, I watched everything… including the original films, The Mandalorian and, of course, 'Rebels.' But I didn't watch anything after we started filming because otherwise, it gets too much. You want to have space, take all the experiences and memories and inspirations from everything you've watched, and then let the live action you're creating find its own truth, its own journey."

Natasha Liu Bordizzo is a Hong Kong-born Australian actress best known for her roles in the Netflix series Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016), the film The Society (2019), and Netflix's action horror comedy, Day Shift (2023).

In Star Wars Rebels, Sabine is a Mandalorian warrior who is part of the Ghost crew. She is known for her wit, her skills with explosives, and her artistic talent. She is also a skilled pilot and a valuable member of the team.  In 2017, Sabine Wren was ranked #10 on the list of "The 50 Greatest Star Wars Characters of All Time" by Time magazine.

The nature of Sabine and Ezra Bridger's relationship has been the subject of much debate among fans. Some fans believe that they are simply friends, while others believe that they are in love. There is no clear answer to this question, as the series never explicitly confirms or denies their romantic feelings for each other.

Given the teaser trailer for Ahsoka, it seems Sabine has not given up hope of finding Ezra.

Eman Esfandi (King Richard) will be portraying Ezra in Ahsoka.

AHSOKA OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka will follow the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
