STAR WARS: AHSOKA Is Now Coming To Disney+ Sooner Than Expected!

In an unprecedented move, Disney+ has announced a major change to Ahsoka's release schedule, with the first two episodes now coming sooner than expected. However, the trend will continue on a weekly basis!

Well, this is an unexpected surprise!

Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that new episodes of Ahsoka will no longer be released on Wednesday nights/mornings at 12am PT/3am ET. Instead, the first two episodes will start streaming on Tuesday, August 22 at 6pm PT/9pm ET, with that same release window set to apply to each subsequent instalment.

It's unclear whether this is only for Ahsoka or the plan for all future Disney+ exclusives. Either way, it's long overdue as expecting fans to watch these new shows in the dead of night rather than during prime time is asking an awful lot (it also means many fans struggle to avoid spoilers, especially if they can't watch until Wednesday evening).

Still, this is a bold move on Disney's part and a sign they have a lot of faith in Ahsoka being a huge draw on the streaming platform.

We'll have our review and some spoiler-filled breakdowns to share with you in time for next week's season premiere! For now, you can watch some highlights from last night's fan event in the player below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 22 with a two-episode premiere.
