Rogue One: A Star Wars Story remains one of the best movies from the Disney era of Star Wars, so there's understandably a lot of excitement for the upcoming Disney+ series, Andor.
As the title suggests, the focus will be on Diego Luna's Cassian Andor in what promises to be an origin story for the character that also explores the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Very little has been revealed (despite it supposedly arriving on the streaming service later this year), but one of the show's stars, Stellan Skarsgard, just dropped quite the bombshell in an interview with DN.SE.
Talking to the Swedish publication about his upcoming projects, the Avengers: Age of Ultron star said, "We start with 'Dune 2' in July. And then in the autumn, it's time for the second season of the Star Wars series 'Andor.'" That's huge news and suggests this story is too big for one season.
Considering the fact we've heard conflicting reports about Alan Tudyk's return as K-2SO, it now makes sense that a second batch of episodes would introduce the droid (along with more key characters). Unfortunately, Skarsgard wasn't spilling the beans on when Andor will be released. "I do not know when they will start broadcasting it," the actor admitted. "It will take some time, so that it does not take too long between season one and season two."
Disney and Lucasfilm are currently busy hyping The Book of Boba Fett, while Obi-Wan Kenobi is likely next. As a result, we might be waiting a while before hearing anything concrete about plans for Andor.
