STAR WARS Author Reveals The Horrifying Ultimatum Given To Jedi When They Become Sith Inquisitors

We first met the Sith Inquisitors in Star Wars Rebels, and the idea that Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader actually had an entire group of Force-users at their beck and call was a legitimate game-changer for the franchise.

Since then, they've become a largely convenient group of antagonists, whether it's in video games or other live-action and animated projects. There's no denying that they're an intriguing group, though, particularly as they aren't true Sith (there can only be two, remember).

Instead, these former Jedi turned to the Dark Side after Order 66, and we now have more details on the process that sees these Inquisitors turn their backs on the idea of serving the Galaxy as heroes.

Author Delilah S. Dawson's new novel Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade follows the story of a young Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66, only to ultimately fall to the Dark Side.

USA Today recently spoke with the writer about the newly introduced Iskat Akaris and she confirmed that in exploring the character's dissatisfaction with the Jedi Order, she "definitely felt shades of what I'm seeing online from generations younger than mine – that they have little hope for the future and little say in how their world can be saved. Rebellion feels like a natural eventuality."

"Of course, for Iskat, rebellion against the Jedi Order involves a darker turn. She can't imagine leaving, and so she is given a choice: Join the Inquisitorius or die."

So, there you have it: a Jedi must join them or die. While there are those who would choose death over the Dark Side, some clearly gave in to their darker impulses, thereby becoming members of the Inquisitorius.

It's an intriguing, albeit expected, development and one we'd like to see further explored down the line. Ahsoka is going to include an Inquisitor years after the fall of the Empire, along with a number of other Sith-like baddies, so it may be there we learn even more about these Jedi.

As for Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, that's now available to purchase.
