Though the series certainly had its share of detractors, Ewan McGregor's return as the titular Jedi Master ensured that Obi-Wan Kenobi proved to be one of the most popular Disney+ Star Wars shows yet.
The story focused on Kenobi's self-imposed exile on Tatooine, and eventual mission to rescue a young Princess Leia from the clutches of the Empire. One of the main selling points was the promise of seeing Obi-Wan and Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) cross paths (and lightsabers) again in their prime, and in that regard, it did not disappoint.
The series concluded with Kenobi returning to Tatooine to keep an eye on Luke Skywalker, where he would remain up until the events of A New Hope.
When asked about the possibility of Kenobi getting another season while chatting to the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy shared the following update.
"I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we're doing, or eventually into a movie, but who knows? But right now, it's still our standard stand-alone limited series, we have no plans for expansion right now."
Honestly, while they probably could get another season out of Kenobi's adventures in the build-up to the original trilogy, it might feel a little forced (some said as much about those first episodes).
It would be a shame if we didn't get to see McGregor as Obi-Wan again, but such is the breaks when you're dealing with prequel stories, unfortunately.
