The Marvel Universe and the Galaxy Far, Far Away collide this January in Star Wars | Marvel: Hope Assembles, a six-issue series by pop culture icon Kevin Smith (Daredevil) and acclaimed artist David Marquez (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man) that marks the historic first-ever crossover between the two franchises.

Marvel Comics has revealed two new variant covers today, the first of which teases an epic showdown between Darth Vader and Doctor Doom.

They're two of the greatest villains in pop culture history, and Doom returns to live-action next month when Robert Downey Jr. dons Doom's iconic mask in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday. Vader's on-screen future is a little less certain, though Hayden Christensen will be back as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2 this January.

On the second cover, Wolverine, Hulk, and Black Widow find themselves in a perilous situation in Cory Smith's A New Hope variant cover, which reimagines iconic moments from the classic film with Marvel’s greatest heroes.

Star Wars | Marvel: Hope Assembles will feature ongoing variant cover programs, with recurring themes across Covers A-F to bring greater clarity and consistency to the cover collecting experience. Additional variants may also be available beyond the ongoing programs.

Hope Assembles marks a historic milestone in Marvel and Star Wars' shared legacy, which began with Marvel's Star Wars #1 in 1977 and launched decades of groundbreaking comic storytelling. Now, as Star Wars celebrates its 50th anniversary, the two universes officially collide in the crossover fans have dreamed of for decades.

"One of the most exciting things about this series is seeing familiar moments through an entirely new lens," Editor Mark Paniccia previously said of Star Wars | Marvel: Hope Assembles. "Kevin Smith and David Marquez understand exactly what makes these characters so enduring, and they find surprising, emotional, and often exhilarating ways to bring them together. Every issue has moments that will leave fans smiling, cheering, and eager to see what happens next."

Check out these new Star Wars | Marvel: Hope Assembles variant covers below and stay tuned for more on the series as we have it.
