STAR WARS: New Details Emerge About Plans For Daisy Ridley's Return As Rey - Possible SPOILERS

In recent days, we've got a much better idea of what Damon Lindelof's Star Wars movie would have looked like. Taking us 60 years beyond the events of The Rise of Skywalker, an elderly Rey would have been featured in the movie, with Helen Mirren potentially taking over the role.

Since then, Lucasfilm has changed course, with the idea now being to pick up just 15 years after the Skywalker Saga ended. The focus will still be on Rey's new Jedi Order (and the threat which rises to take aim at it), but what isn't clear is whether Daisy Ridley will be the movie's lead or just a supporting character.

Talking on The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider shed a little light on where Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will take Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter.

"From what I understand, from some of the rumors that have come out here," he started, "Daisy won't necessarily be the lead, she'll be like the Luke or the Obi-Wan of the situation as she rebuilds the new Jedi Order."

That's pretty much what we expected, though it's still a little surprising to think Rey will be little more than a supporting character in the movie.

John Boyega's Finn is believed to be returning in some capacity, and we're assuming the plan is to shift focus to the new Jedi Knights who will be trained by Rey Skywalker as she looks to rebuild the Jedi.

Recent stories have established that Luke Skywalker was far from the only Jedi in the Galaxy when he decided to take on Darth Vader, though it's unclear who else was out there fighting the good fight by the time the sequel trilogy took place (after all, chances are the likes of Ahsoka Tano and Cal Kestis had died by then).

Despite not having a confirmed release date, this Star Wars movie is expected to arrive in theaters in December 2025.
