The Star Wars sequels were nothing if not divisive, with the ill-feeling towards them only increasing since their release. Lucasfilm decided to go in without a plan, allowing the franchise to become bogged down in the competing visions of two filmmakers: J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson.
After Abrams delivered a movie that many argued was basically A New Hope all over again, Johnson turned everything the filmmaker had laid down on its head in The Last Jedi, dismissing Rey's parents as nobodies and killing Supreme Leader Snoke without ever addressing his mysterious backstory.
When Abrams returned for The Rise of Skywalker, he went into damage control mode, undoing much of what Johnson had delivered and came up with a finale that mostly disappointed (though perhaps not as much as Johnson's handling of Luke Skywalker).
Like the prequels, there's a chance the sequels will come to be better appreciated over time, and some newly released posters might just help you see the movies in a new light.
Artist Devin Schoeffler, in association with Acme Archives, is responsible for these gorgeous new one-sheets, with the characters from each movie put under the spotlight. For The Force Awakens, they're framed within BB-8. As for The Last Jedi, it's Captain Phasma's helmet, and by the time we reach The Rise of Skywalker, Kylo Ren gets his turn.
It's a cool concept, even if it is one unlikely to change many minds about this series of movies. Rumour has it that the upcoming big screen projects being planned by Lucasfilm will be set after the sequels, with the hope being that those will go some way in making up for the missteps made by Abrams and Johnson from 2015 - 2019.
Throw in the fact that The Mandalorian may well explain Snoke's creation in season 3, and all those annoying plot holes might soon be a tad less irritating!
