During Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, we learned that Daisy Ridley will reprise her sequel trilogy role as Rey for director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's untitled Star Wars movie, which will be set a whole fifteen years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

Details have been few and far between since, but we may now know which actor is in line - or is being courted, at least - to play the film's antagonist.

According to reliable insider @MyTimeToShineHello, Thor: Ragnarök and Luther star Idris Elba is being "eyed" for the villain of the piece. Whether this means he's actually in talks or is just who Lucasfilm is interested in is not clear.

The story is still mostly under wraps, but we do know that Rey will be a "powerful Jedi master" running her own training academy when we catch up with her, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has described the timeline as the "New Jedi Order" era.

Two more Star Wars films were confirmed during Celebration, with The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni set to helm a tale set in the New Republic timeline that'll serve as a culmination of the various Disney+ shows. Plus, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold's project will tell the story of the first Jedi to ever wield the Force!
